On December 14, 2023, Sorin Popescu, the Director of AAIJ (Agency for the Administration of Judicial Courts), participated in the Regional Conference „Dialogue for Access to Justice,” organized by the Public Association „Legal Clinic in Bălți” (CJB).
The purpose of the event was to facilitate the exchange of knowledge among stakeholders in the fields of justice and human rights, promoting access to justice for vulnerable groups in the northern part of the country.
The conference covered the following topics:
- Challenges and deficiencies in ensuring state-guaranteed assistance to certain vulnerable categories of beneficiaries, ensuring access to justice and defense for individuals from vulnerable groups.
- Access to justice for individuals from vulnerable groups: barriers faced and interaction with the justice system and professionals in the field.
- Legislative updates in the protection of victims of family violence, with a focus on best practices in promoting and using mechanisms to protect victims of family violence, challenges for professionals in the field, and inter-institutional communication.
During the event, Sorin Popescu, the Director of AAIJ, stated, „All citizens should benefit from equal access to justice. In this regard, state authorities must strengthen their efforts to remove all barriers and restore citizens’ trust in the justice system.”
According to participants, the event concluded that effective solutions to ensure a more equitable and accessible judicial system for all citizens can be identified through collaboration and community involvement.
